Dept. of Human Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry, Sackler Faculty of Medicine

Research topic: Drug discovery and brain protection, microtubules – from gene to behavior, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, ALS and schizophrenia

Imaging projects in the lab include:

  • Immunofluorescence of nerve cells and nerve support cells – confocal microscopy.
  • In situ hybridization of embryonic zebra fish.
  • Correlation with small animal MRI imaging.

SCMIC equipment used:

Confocal microscopy:  Zeiss 510 Meta – NLO (includes Two-photon LASER); Zeiss 410; Leica SP

Whole animal Imaging: Fluorescence Imaging – Cri Maestro; Bioluminescence Imaging – Photon Imager, Biospace; Fiber Confocal Microscopy – Cellvizio; Ultrasoun

Image analysis services: Deconvolution – Using the Huygens software; 3D and 4D Real-Time Interactive Image Visualization – Using the Imaris software
